  Body  Void  are  a  band  from  San  Francisco,  California  that  plays  a  mixture  of  drone,  sludge,  doom  metal  and  crust  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  album  "I  Live  Inside  A  Burning  House"  which  will  be  released  in  May  as  a  joint  effort  between  Seeing  Red  Records,  Crown  &  Throne  and  Dry  Cough.

  Atmospheric  drones  start  off  the  album  and  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  while  the  riffs  also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  along  with  all  of  the  tracks  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  as  well  as  the  riffs  bringing  in  the  heaviness  of  sludge  and  doom  metal.

  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  sludge  style  screams  while  some  of  the  amp  distortion  also  brings  in  elements  of  harsh  noise  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats,  crust  and  grindcore  elements  can  also  be  heard  and  when  guitar  leads  are  finally  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  melodic  fashion,  clean  guitars  and  melodic  chants  can  also  be  heard  on  the  closing  track. 

  Body  Void  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  drone,  noise,  sludge,  doom  metal,  crust  and  grindcore  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  queer  identity,  mental  illness  and  how  they  impact  the  push-pull  relationship  between  material  and  immaterial  existence.

  In  my  opinion  Body  Void  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  drone,  sludge,  doom  metal  and  crust  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Haunted"  and  "Given".  8  out  of  10.      

Slaughterday/Abattior/F.D.A Records/2018 CD Review

  Slaughterday  are  a  band  from  Germany  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  an  old  school  mixture  of  doom  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  album  "Abattior"  which  will  be  released  in  May  by  F.D.A  Records.

  A  very  dark,  heavy  and  old  school  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  death  metal  growls  a  few  seconds  alter  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  bring  in  a great  amount  of  blast  beats  as  well  as  the  riffs  also  bringing  in a   great  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  and  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's.

  A  great  amount  of  Swedish  influences  can  be  heard  in  the  bands  musical  style  while  the  solos  and  leads  also  remain  very  true  to  an  old  school  style  along  with  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  being  very  heavily  influenced  by  doom  metal  as  well  as  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  they  also  bring  in  covers  of  Trouble's  "Victim  Of  The  Insane"  and  Amorphis's  "Grail's  Mysteries"  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts,  spoken word  samples  can  also  be  heard  briefly.

  Slaughterday  creates  another  recording  that  remains  true  to  their  old  school  mixture  of  doom  and  death  metal,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  in  a  90's  way  and  the  lyrics  cover  horror  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Slaughterday  and  if you  are  a  fan  of  old  school  doom  and  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Wasteland  Of  Demise"  and  "Cursed  By  The  Dead".  8  out  of  10.

Mordor/Darkness.../Pagan Records/2018 CD Review

  Mordor  are  a  band  from  Poland  that  plays  an  old  school  mixture  of  doom  and  death  metal  along  with  some  elements  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  album  "Darkness..."  which  will  be  released  in  April  by  Pagan  Records.

  A  very  slow,  dark  and  heavy  doom  metal  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  atmospheric  keyboards  in  the  background  while  the  riffs  also  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  depressive  melodies  as  well  as  the  clean  vocals  giving  the  music  more  of  a  goth  metal  feeling and  the  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  fashion.

  Death  metal  growls  are  also  used  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  while  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  mid  90's  along  with  all  of  the  tracks  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  as  well  as  some  black  metal  screams  also  being  added  into  some  parts  of  the  music  and  at  times  symphonic  and  avant  garde  elements  are  added  onto  the  recording  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  as  the  album  progresses  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts  can  be  heard.

  Mordor  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  90's  era  death,  doom  and  goth  metal  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of t heir  own  along  with  some  experimental  and  black  metal  elements,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark,  melancholic  and  occultism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Mordor  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  doom,  death  and  goth  metal  with  some  black  metal  touches  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "L.U.C.I.F.E.R"  and  "Incalculable  Sadness".  8  out  of  10.  

The Human Race Is Filth/Liberate/2018 EP Review

  The  Human  Race  Is  Filth  also  known  as  Thrif  are  a  band  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  mixture  of  sludge,  doom  metal,  grindcore,  crust  punk  and  d  beat  and  this  is  a  review of  their  self  released  ep  "Liberate"  which  will  be  released  in  April.

  A  very  noisy  yet  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  crazy  sounding  screams  an  Native  American  war  chants  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  grindcore  elements  along  with  the  music  also  adding  in  elements  of  crust  and  d  beat.

  Vocals  are  mostly  angry  crust/hardcore  style  shouts  and  death  metal  growls  while  most  of  the  tracks  are  very  short  in  length  along  with  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  mixing  in  elements  of  sludge  and  doom  metal  as  well  as  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  On  this  recording  The  Human  Race  Is  Filth  remains  true  to t her  mixture  of  sludge,  grindcore,  d  beat  and  crust  punk,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  violent,  hateful  and  political  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  The  Human  Race  Is  Filth  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  sludge,  grindcore  and  crust  punk,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Native  Biological  Warfare"  "Capital  Torture"  and  "Concrete  Soldier'.  8  out  of  10.    

Chrch/Light Will Consume Us All/Neurot Recordings/2018 CD Review

  Chrch  are  a  band  from  Sacramento,  California  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  mixture  of  doom  and  sludge  metal  with  some  psychedelic  and  drone  elements  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  album  "Light  Will  Consume  Us"  which  will  be  released  in  May  by  Neurot  Recordings.

  Ambient  style  drones  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  clean  guitars  a  few  seconds  later  while  all  3  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  as  well  as  some  whispers  also  being  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  the  drums  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  ritualistic  feeling.

  Female  vocals  along  with  some  spoken  word  parts  are  also  a  very  huge  part  of  the  recording  while  the  riffs  also  bring  in  the  heaviness  of  sludge  and  doom  metal  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  giving  the  songs  a  more  melodic  and  atmospheric  post  metal  feeling  as  well  as  the  music  also  bringing  in  a  great  amount  of  aggressive  screams  and  growls.

  The  riffs  also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  at  times while  there  is  also  a   brief  use  of  clean  male  vocals  as  the  album  progresses  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  as  well  as  the  songs  also  bringing  in  a  small  amount  of  psychedelic  rock  elements  and  on  the  closing  track  the  music  speeds  up  a  little  bit  and  also  adds  in  a  small  amount  of  blast  beats.

  Chrch  creates  another  recording  that  remains  true  to  their  mixture  of  drone,  sludge  and  doom  metal  and  also  adding  in  more  psychedelic  rock  elements  this  time  around,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness  and  occultism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Chrch  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  drone,  doom  and  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK "Aether".  8  out  of  10.

Shrine Of The Serpent/Entropic Disillusion/Memento Mori/2018 CD Review

  Shrine  of  The  Serpent  are  a  band  from  Portland,  Oregon  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  mixture  of  sludge,  doom  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  album  "Entropic  Disillusion"  which  will  released  in  April  by  Memento  Mori.

  Clean  playing  and  nature  sounds  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  heavier  doom  metal  direction  along  with  a  great  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  while  most  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  after  awhile  death  metal  growls  start  to  make  their  presence  known.

Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  the  heaviness  of  sludge  while  screams  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  along  with  the  music  also  mixing  in  a  great  amount  of  90's  era  doom/death  metal  influences  but  keeping  it  modern  at  the  same  time  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard  and  as  the  album  progresses  an  ambient  track  is  added  onto  the  recording  as  well  as  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts before  returning  back  to  a  heavier  direction.

  Shrine  Of  The  Serpent  creates  another  recording  that  remains  true  to  their  mixture  of  sludge,  doom  and  death metal,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the lyrics  cover  darkness  and  despair  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Shrine  of  The  Serpent  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  sludge,  doom  and  death  metal,  you  should c heck  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Descend  Into  Dusk"  "Desecrated  Tomb"  and  "Rending  The  Physical  Void".  8  out  of  10.    

Ommadon/End Times/Dry Cough Records/At War With False Noise/DGRecords/Medusa Crush Recordings/2018 CD Review

  Ommadon  are  a  band  from  Scotland  that  has  had  an  album  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  primitive  mixture  of  drone  and  doom  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  album  "End  Times"  which  will  be  released  in  May  as  a  joint  effort  between  Dry  Cough  Records,  At  War  With  False  Noise,  DGRecords  and  Medusa  Crush  Recordings.

  Atmospheric  sounding  drones  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  distorted  amp  sounds  a  few  seconds  later  while  the  bass  guitars  bring  in  the  heaviness  of  sludge  as  well  as  both  of  the  tracks  being mostly  instrumental  and  also  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length and  at  times  the  music  has  an  improv  feeling  to  it.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  done  in  a  very  dark  and  melodic  fashion  while  the  guitar  riffing is  mostly  influenced  by  doom  metal  along  with  the  music  also  getting  very  primitive  at  times  as  well  as  the  vocals  being  mostly death  metal  growls  when  they are  utilized  briefly  and  on  the  second  track  evolved  into  sludge  style  screams  and  the  music  always  sticks  to  a  very  slow  direction.

  On  this  recording  Ommadon  continues  their  primitive  mixture  of  drone  and  doom  metal  while  also  introducing  a  few  seconds of  death  metal  growls  and  sludge  style  onto  the  recording  and  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  heavy.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Ommadon  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  drone  and  doom  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  *  out  of  10.
