  Noose  Rot  are  a  band  from  Minnesota  that  plays  a  primitive  mixture  of  doom  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  ep  "The  Creeping  Unknown"  which  was  released  by  Sentient  Ruin   Laboratories.

  A  very  dark  and  melodic  sound  starts  off  the  ep  before  going  into  a  heavier  doom  metal  direction  which  also  introduces  death  metal  growls  onto  the  recording  along  with  a  few  screams  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  music is  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard  while  the  songs  sound  like  they  could  of  easily  been  recorded  and  released  more  than  20 years  along  with  the  tracks  also  bringing  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  music  always  remains  heavy  and  when  guitar  leads  are  finally  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  dark  and  melodic  style.

  Noose  Rot  plays  a  musical  style  that goes  back  to  the  90's  era  of  doom  and  death  metal  but  done  in  more  of  a  primitive  style,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  death  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Noose  Rot  are  a  very  great  sounding  primitive  mixture  of  doom  and  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Mass  Grave  Interment" and  "Bound  In  A  Dark  Horse".  8  out  of  10.

Void Rot/Consumed By Oblivion/Everlasting Spew Records/Sentient Ruin Laboratories/2018 EP Review

  Void  Rot  are  a  band  from  Minneapolis,  Minnesota  that  plays  a  cosmic  mixture  of  doom  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  ep  "Consumed  By  Oblivion"  which  will  be  released  in  August  as  a  joint  effort  between  Everlasting  Spew  Records  and  Sentient  Ruin  Laboratories.

  A  very  dark  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  ep  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  slow  riffs  bringing  in  the  heaviness  of  doom  metal  as  well  as  the  guitar  leads  being  done  in  a  very  dark  and  melodic  style  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  deep  death  metal  growls.

  A  decent  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  can  be  heard  in  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  music also  brings  in  a  great  mixture  of  both  old  school  and  modern  influences  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  briefly  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  along  with  the  music  focusing  more  of  a  slow  and  heavier  style.

  Void Rot  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  doom  and  death  metal  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  themes.

Adfail/Poetry Of Ruins/Another Side Records/2018 EP Review

  Adfail  are  a  band  from  Russia  that  plays  a  dark  mixture  of  goth,  doom  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  ep  "Poetry  of  Ruins"  which  was  released  by  Another  Side  Records.

  A  very  slow,  dark  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  some  atmospheric  keyboards  a  few  seconds  later  while  the  vocals  also  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  death  metal  growls  as  well  as  some  clean  male  and  female vocals  also  being  used  at  times  and  also  gives  the  music  a  gothic  feeling.

  Clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  at  times  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  slow  riffing  being  very  heavily  influenced  by  doom  metal  as  well  as  some  stringed  instruments  also  being  used  at  times,  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  and  the  riffs  also  use  a  decent  amount  of  melody  and  as  the  ep  progresses  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts  and  an  instrumental  can  be  heard.

  Adfail  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  goth,  dark,  doom  and  death  metal  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  poetic  themes. 

  In  my  opinion  Adfail  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  goth,  dark,  doom  and  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "After  Apostasy"  and  "Snow".  8  out  of  10.
  

Disgusted Geist/Reign Of Enthrallment/2018 Full Length Review

  Disgusted  Geist  are  a  band  from  California  that  plays  a  mixture  of  sludge,  doom  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2018  album  "Reign  Of  Enthrallment".

  A  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  deep  death  metal  growls  along  with  the  music  also  bringing  in  a  great  amount  of  90's  influences  as  well  as  some  crazy  sounding  screams  being  utilized  at  times  and  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  are  very  heavily  rooted  in  doom  metal.

  A  decent  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  can  also  be  heard  in  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  along  with  some  of  the  slow  riffs  also  mixing  in  the  heaviness  of  sludge  and  the  music  always  remains  very  heavy  as  well  as  all  of  the  musical  instruments  sounding  very  powerful.

Black Vatican/The Black Vatican/2018 Full Length Review

  Black  Vatican  are  a  band  from  Kansas  that  plays  a  very  symphonic  form  of  gothic  metal  with  some  elements  of  black  metal  and  industrial  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2018  album  "The  Black  Vatican".

  Goth  rock  style  synths  along  with  some  melodic  chants  start  off  the  album  while  the  music  also  brings  in  a  great  amount  of  symphonic  elements  which  also  mixes  into  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  as  well  as  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Whispers  can  also  be  heard  at  times  while  a  great  portion  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  the  vocals  bringing  in  a  mixture  of  goth  style  spoken  words,  death  metal  growls  and  black  metal  screams  as  well  as  some  female  vocals  also  being  added  onto  some  of  the  tracks,

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  while  programmed  beats  are  also  used  at  times  along  with  the  music  also  incorporating  elements  of  industrial  and  on  some  of  the  tracks  elements  of  progressive  rock  can  also  be  heard  as  well  as  the  music  always  sticking  to  either  a  slow  or  mid  paced  direction.

  Black  Vatican  plays  a  musical  style  that  is  mostly  rooted  in  gothic  metal  while  the symphonic,  industrial,  black  and  death  metal  elements  gives  the  songs  more originality,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  for  being  a  self  released  recording  while  the  lyrics  cover  War,  Lust,  Magick,  Hostory  and  Mythology  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Black  Vatican  are  a  very  great  sounding  symphonic  gothic  metal  band  and if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Darkened  (Sacred)  Wine"  "Into  Abyssful  Terror"  and  "From  The  Asylum".  8  out  of  10.

Dark Millennium/Where Oceans Collide/Massacre Records/2018 CD Review

  Dark  Millennium  are  a  band  from  Germany  that  plays  a  very  dark  and  progressive  mixture  of  doom  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  album  "Where  Oceans  Collide"  which  will  be  released  in  August  by  Massacre  Records.

  Atmospheric  sounds  along  with  some  slow  yet  heavy  doom  metal  riffing  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  growling  vocals  that  are  very  easy  to  understand  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  as  well  as  the  music  also  getting  very  progressive  at  times.

  A  decent  amount  of  melody  can  also  be  heard  in  the  guitar  riffing  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  music  also  having  a  lot  of  90's  influences  but  also  modern  at  the  same  time,  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording.

  The  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  bringing  in  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  while  the  screams  also  add  in  a  touch  of  black  metal  and  thrash  along  with  some  melodic  singing  also  being  heard  used  briefly  and  the  last  track  is  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  also  introduces  symphonic  elements  in  the  music  as  well  as  being  in  instrumental.

  Dark  Millennium  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  progressive,  dark,  doom  and  death  metal  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  sin,  religion,  lyrical  poetry  and  fantasy  themes.

Scumworm/2018 EP Review

  Scumworm  are  a  band  from  Spain  that  plays  a  mixture  of  grindcore,  death  and  sludge  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2018  ep.

  Clean   yet  distorted  playing  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  a  brief  use  of  stringed  instruments  and  melodic  chants  before  going  into  a  very  fast  grindcore  direction  which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  while  the  vocals  are  a  mixture  of  high  pitched  screams  and  death  metal  growls.

  All  of  the  tracks  are  very  short  in  length  while  some  of  the  guitar  leads  also  add  in  a  touch  of  stoner  rock  along  with  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  being  very  heavily  influenced  by  sludge  metal  as  well  as  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  music  also  brings  in  a  great  amount  of  crust  elements,  a  small  amount  of  melody  can  also  be  heard  in  the  guitar  riffing. 

  Scumworm  plays  a  musical  style  that  is  mostly  rooted  in  grindcore  while  also  mixing  in  elements  of  crust,  death  and  sludge  metal,  the  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Spanish  and  cover  social  issues,  politics  and  violence  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Scumworm  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  grindcore,  sludge  and  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Dios  Oculto"  and  "Escupiendo  Carne".  8  out  of  10.
