Altar Of Betelgeuze are a band from Finland that plays a mixture of stoner, doom and death metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Among The Ruins" which will be released in April by Transcending Obscurity Records.
A very heavy stoner metal sound starts off the album along with some elements of doom metal and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and the solos and leads also give the music more of a retro vibe and you can also hear a decent amount of melody in the guitar riffing.
Spoken word parts can also be heard at times while the vocals are mostly deep death metal growls while also bringing in clean singing stoner vocals are on some of the tracks and some of the songs are very long and epic in length and as the album progresses clean playing can be heard briefly and all of the songs stick to a very slow musical direction.
Altar Of Betelgeuze creates another album that remains true to the stoner, doom and death metal mixture of their previous releases, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover space, death and doom themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Altar Of Betelgeuze and if you are a fan of stoner, doom and death metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Sledge of Stone" "New Dawn" and "Among The Ruins". 8 out of 10.
