This is a review of a split album between Michigan's Cloud Rat and Illinois's Disrotted which was released as a joint effort between Halo Of Flies and Dry Cough Records and we will start off the review with Cloud Rat a band that plays a mixture of grindcore and punk.
Their side of the split starts out with nature orientated soundscapes as well as some elements of noise and drone and spoken word parts are also utilized briefly and after awhile the music goes into a heavier direction along with some screaming vocals and a touch of post hardcore.
When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can be heard while the track is 18 minutes in length along with the riffs also using a decent amount of melody and the songs also brings in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and keyboards are also utilized briefly along with the track mixing in doom metal elements and there is also a brief use of melodic vocals, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding track from Cloud Rat and if you are a fan of doom metal, grindcore and hardcore punk, you should check out their song.
Next up is Disrotted a band that plays a mixture of doom, drone, sludge, and death metal.
Their side of the split starts out with some drones before adding in riffs that bring in the heaviness of sludge and doom metal along with some dark sounding melodies and after awhile grim vocals are added into the music as well as some death metal growls and the track is 23 minutes in length and the song always sticks to a slow musical direction, the production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover dark and disturbing themes.
In my opinion Disrotted are a very great sounding mixture of drone, doom, sludge and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band.
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fans of sludge and doom metal. 8 out of 10.
