1. Can you tell us a little bit about the band for those that have never heard you before?
We're a strange sludge/doom duet coming from a beautiful wine district in the east of France. Crown was born last year, in the summer of 2011. pascal and me are good friends since at least 15 years and we're working in the same venue, me as sound engineer and he his the stage manager of the venue, so it came naturally, metal veterans we are ;-)
2. How would you describe your musical sound?
It's very hard to describe your own music but if you're mixing metal, sludge, doom, industrial, rock, pop, progressive, post rock, and some psychedelism and repetitive music i think you've got and idea of our sound.
3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?
All the lyrics are a part of an imaginary ritual, it 's a kind of sabbath where you're your own guide through the darkness.
4. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?
Oh my god, that's a good question hehe ! I think this name is in my subconscious since a long time, many visions, many drugs and many silly conversations are in the center of this choice but i like to see crown not as an object but a vortex leading to a parallel dimension.
5. Has the band had any opportunities to do any live shows, if so what are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?
It's just the beginning we're about to play our 3rd gig in the end of the month, but we're very excited to play with Monkey 3 next month in a really cool festival named Impetus, and Zatokrev in may for our EP release party. Zatokrev are good friends and it's one of my favorite bands.
6. The new album came out on Superstrong Records, how did you get in contact with this label and how would you describe the support that they have given you so far/
Superstrong is our own label, we decided to to create this structure with 2 other bands ( Six In Line and Jizzlobber ) 4 months ago, all members were part of our ex band Hollow Corp . Superstrong is a totally DIY label.
7. On a worldwide level how has your music been received by fans of sludge and doom metal?
We have good feedback in Germany, Uk, US, France, a lot of amazing reviews so we're very honored by these good vibes around "The One" . We're now ready to tour so next step is to find a booking agency .
8. What is going on with the other band projects these days?
The 2 other bands of the label will release a EP this year, expect some crushing stoner space sludgy rock with Jizzlobber and heavy crossover rock with Six In Line. We're now writing new songs for Crown and a full album will be released in fall 2013.
9. What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases/
I think we're gonna follow the way of "The One", in a more extreme approach. Let see what happened in 2013, expect some funky freaky R'n'B stuff with a lot of autotune !
10. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
I'm a true music junkie you know, but to let's try to give you not a thousand names : Ministry, Black Sabbath, Nin, Neurosis, Cult Of Luna, Isis, Godflesh, Killing Joke, The God Machine, St Vitus, Voivod etc etc … so many bands are influencing us so this list is very small. I'm listening right now to Rise and Fall " Faith " just heavy as hell, Die Antwoord, Dope DOD, Pentagram, Motley Crue, Papier Tigre, Sunn O, Swans, Fever Ray, Trontemoller, etc etc … a tons af excellent albums will be released on april like High On Fire and Killing Joke !!
11. Outside of music what are some of your interests?
Except playing heavy music with my silly twin in Crown i don't like so many things, but watch some Lynch films, drink some good red wine and eating some excellent Sushis made by my wife while watching Dexter is a pretty cool way to live my life with Satan .
12. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?
High On Fire "De vermis Mysteriis" !!! And thanx for your interview it was an honor !! Hope my english is not to frenglish !!
