Haast's Eagled are a band from Wales that plays a stoner form of doom metal and this is a review of t heir self titled 2014 album which was released by Senseless Life Records.
Nature sounds start off the album before adding in some keys and a clean musical direction which also leads up to a heavy 70's orientated doom metal direction but with a more powerful and modern sound along with some deep death metal growls and the music evoking a more stoner vibe to it.
When melodic vocals find their way onto the album the music really starts getting more old school and retro in sound while the lead guitars are very melodic sounding doom metal guitar leads and most of the tracks are very long and epic in length and the acoustic guitars when they are utilized bring in elements of both classic and progressive rock
Al of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them as well as all of the songs sounding very different from each other while also remaining true to a stoner/doom metal sound and on one of the tracks they bring in a small amount of spoken word parts and on the last song the music starts going more a more psychedelic doom metal/rock sound.
Haast's Eagled have a very retro and old school sound wit h their mixture of stone r and doom metal while also bringing in the heaviness of sludge and death metal to update the music for modern days, the production is very professional sounding and the lyrics cover mythology themes.
In my opinion Haast's Eagled are a very great sounding mixture of stoner and doom metal and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should c heck out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Viking" and "The Eye Of God". 8 out of 10.
