White Mist are a band from Finland that plays a very atmospheric form of doom/death metal and this is a review of their self titled 2013 ep which was released by Senseless Life Records.
A very clean and atmospheric sound starts off the ep along with some melodic female vocals before adding in death metal growls and taking the music into a more dark and heavy direction and when they bring in solos and leads the recording starts having a more melodic edge to it as well as having a mixture of both clean and heavy parts.
Both of the tracks are very long and epic in length and they also add in a small amount of spoken word parts which gives the music an early 90's atmospheric doom/death metal feeling and when acoustic guitars are added into the music they bring in a medieval folk atmosphere while also having traces of progressive rock and they also get a bit more heavier on the second track as well as adding in melodic male vocals.
White Mist have a sound that goes back to the early to mid 90's style of atmospheric doom/death metal where female vocals where one of the main elements, the production sounds very dark and old school while the lyrics cover dark and depressive themes.
In my opinion White Mist are a very great sounding atmosphere doom/death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Isolation". 8 out of 10.
