Mist Of Nihil are a band from Greece that plays a melodic mixture of doom and death metal and this is a review of their 2014 ep "Buried Laments" which was released by Senseless Life Records.
Acoustic guitars start off the ep before adding in more heavy and melodic parts which leads up to a doom metal sound along with some depressive solos and leads which also bring a post rock feeling to the recording and after the intro the music changes a bit and starts going for a more melodic direction.
Vocals that are utilized on the ep are all death metal growls and screams and the band also mixes in the early 90's style of doom metal with melodic death and also has a more old school than modern feeling with their songs as well as having a mixture of both acoustic, clean and heavy parts with the main focus being on the later.
Most of the tracks are very long and epic in length and as the ep progresses spoken word parts are added into certain sections of the recording and the music always remains in a slow to mid paced direction.
Mist Of Nihil create a very melodic and depressive old school sound with their mixture of death and doom metal going back to the forgotten melodic sides of those genres from the 90's and updating them for the modern day, the production is very professional sounding and the lyrics cover dark and depressive themes.
In my opinion Mist Of Nihil are a very great sounding melodic mixture of death and doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Days Of Wrath" and "Buried Laments". 8 out of 10.
