Tyrant's Kall are a band from Belgium that plays an old school mixture of doom and death metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "Dagon" which will be released on September 18th by Witches Brew.
Water sounds start off the album before adding in more of a Swedish style death metal sound along with a great amount of doom metal elements and you can also hear a decent amount of melody in the bands musical style and after the first track which is all instrumental the band goes for more of a 80's style of sound.
When vocals are added into the music they are growls done with a more screaming style of approach and at times you can hear some spoken word ritualistic parts being added into the music along with the vocals also bringing in small amounts of clean singing, after awhile clean playing can be heard in certain sections of the recording.
All of the musical instruments on the album have a very powerful sound to them and in some of the slow doom sections of the music as well as the solos at times the band adds in elements of 70's rock which also gives the recording more of an old school groove feeling and all of the tracks stick to a slow to mid paced direction and some of the alter tracks see the vocals get more demonic in sound.
Tyrant's Kall plays a very old school style of metal taking the doom metal genre and mixing it in with the heaviness of Swedish death metal and bringing in elements of 70's rock as well as having a very ritualistic and occult atmosphere which makes their musical style sound more original, the production sounds very old school yet professional at the same time while the lyrics are based in the writings of H.P Lovecraft.
In my opinion Tyrant's Kall are a very great sounding mixture of doom and death metal and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Ia Cthulhu" "Slimy Existence" and "The Swamps". 8/5 out of 10.
