Secret Cutter are a band from Pennsylvania that plays a mixture of sludge, doom metal and grindcore and this is a review of their self titled 2014 album which was released by Bethlehem Rust.
Distorted noises and high pitched screams start off the album before going into a more heavy sludge metal direction and you can also hear a small amount of melody in the bands musical style at times and on some of the later tracks the music gets more up beat and mid paced at times along with the energy of punk.
There is a good mixture of both clean and heavy parts throughout the recording and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and some of the later track see the band adding in more elements of grind and hardcore along with a few brief instrumental's while keeping everything in a slow to mid paced direction while a couple of the songs does see the band adding in more fast parts and a small amount of blast beats.
Secret Cutter play a very heavy form of sludge/doom metal which uses a great amount of distortion and reverb along wit h some elements of hardcore, grind and punk and the album is heavy from beginning to the end of the recording, the production has a very dark, raw and heavy sound while the lyrics cover dark, violent and hateful themes.
In my opinion Secret Cutter are a very great sounding mixture of grind, sludge and doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Mirror mirror" "Vow Of Poverty" "Shake the Malevolent" and "Driftwood". 8 out of 10.
