Gravewards are a band from Greece that has been featured before in this zine and plays a very technical and old school mixture of doom, death and thrash metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "Ruinous Ensoulment" which will be released in July by Unspeakable Axe Records.
A brief intro starts off the album before going into more of a heavier musical direction while the riffs also use a great amount of dark sounding melodies along with the vocals being mostly mid 80's to early 90's style death metal growls and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can also be heard.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them while the slower sections of the songs also bring in a great amount of doom metal elements along with the music also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts aw well as mixing in a great amount of thrash metal influences, a great portion of the tracks are very long and epic in length and at times the music gets very technical.
Gravewards creates another recording that remains true to their old school and technical mixture of doom, death and thrash metal, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover horror, anguish and torture themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Gravewards and if you are a fan of doom, old school death and technical thrash metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Sworn In Denial-Omega Syndrome" "Deconstruction Of Logic" and "Devoid Of Life". 8 out of 10.
