Secret Cutter are a band from Pennsylvania that has been featured before in this zine an plays a mixture of sludge, doom metal and grindcore and this is a review of their self released 2018 album "Quantum Eraser" which will be released in July.
Atmospheric drones start off the album before going into a heavier sludge metal direction along with some angry screams while the riffs also capture the heaviness of doom metal as well as all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard.
Elements of grindcore are added into the faster sections of the tracks and also makes the music sound more brutal while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as the music never using any guitar solos, leads as well as only adding in a small amount of melody at times and a couple of tsongs also adds in a brief use of clean playing.
Secret Cutter creates another recording that remains true to their mixture of sludge, doom metal and grindcore, the production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover dark and angry themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Secret Cutter and if you are a fan of sludge, doom metal and grindcore, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Trampled By Light" "Transient" "Doormat" and "Oblivion". 8 out of 10.
